Goru Gold Red

Daryl Woods Publisher/Reviewer

Captivating. Enchanting. Mesmerizing. Repulsive? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This is Goru.

According to the story on the label of another wine from Ego Bodegas, “A friendly admirable character, Goru was seductive and generous in spreading his love. He was remembered for generations with affection…”. Seductive? Perhaps the Willie Nelson of his time?

This striking portrait of Goru fronts several wines from Ego Bodegas. Floating in a sea of white space, it commands attention. The Goru Gold is the most minimal label in the line. It distinguishes itself with metallic gold accents on the character’s cheekbones and wisps of his bristly hair.

Goru Gold is Goru bold. The wine is a blend of Monastrell, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s full-bodied and intense. This is their premium red. Perhaps that explains the seriously detailed winemakers notes on the back label. Few would understand this level of information.

I’ve been a fan of this brand series for several years. What Ego Bodegas has achieved with the usage of the Goru character allows them to extend their line with instant recognition by their customers. It’s an enviable position.

Captivating. Enchanting. Mesmerizing. That’s my impression of Goru. What’s yours? Let me know in the comments below.
