Hola! Brut Cava

Hello!!! The package design for Hola! Brut Cava might be, on analysis, the most perfect I have ever seen. The designers clearly researched and developed a deep understanding of the product, its origins and the brand story the producer sought to tell. Every element is well thought out and implemented.

Let’s start with shelf presence. The bottle, completely wrapped in an elegant gold on black pattern commands attention. Hola! (hello in Spanish as many would know) greets you in extremely bold serif type, bookended by exclamation marks. I’m not sure of the rationale behind flipping the first one but it seems to work. 

Every opportunity for branding from top to bottom has been maximized. The capsule is branded. The crown cap is branded. The cork is branded and patterned. The pattern is derived from Barcelona street tiles. Hola is expressed in 15 languages!

The wine is organic. If that wasn’t enough to satisfy conscientious consumers the package extends the appeal. For those concerned about the recyclability of a plastic-wrapped bottle, this one has a pull tab that allows you to completely remove the wrap.

Even the back label of this wine is a step above the norm. Most of the information is typical—grapes, harvesting, vinification, food pairing—but it’s broken down in consumable chunks complete with graphics. The chilling instructions are even somewhat humorous. “It’s cool. Keep it in the refrigerator and don’t wait too long to drink it (but that shouldn’t be a problem).” 

At a glance, the Hola! package is both elegant and friendly. For label gazers, it’s an illustrated checklist of motivation to buy. Those who do won’t be disappointed. This cava is dry and fresh,  with flavours of citrus, crisp apple and melon. From glance to glass a wonderfully enjoyable experience.
