Talò Primitivo

Daryl Woods Publisher/Reviewer

Italian Modern. It may be the epitome of style but it is embraced by few in the wine industry. Most Italian producers choose instead to remain steadfast in the trappings of tradition.

Perhaps it is why Talò stands out. With the understated elegance of Milanese fashion the lines of this label for a San Marzano Primitivo flow like an Armani gown. The design is impeccable.

A great decision was made to use a single label that wraps about three-quarters of the tapered bottle. It allows the sensuous curves of copper to create a mountainesque horizon as the bottle turns. An abstract vine that punctuates the label face is bold of line yet subtle in presence.

The finishes are exquisite. In addition to the rich copper foil, the bright, textured label stock creates the tactile experience of fine fabric.

On the left panel of the label, we learn that Talò is a common name in San Marzano and chosen to honour the farmers of the village. Additional history and tasting notes follow. Required information is found on the opposite side of the label.

Primitivo is the Italian cousin of Zinfandel. Both are robust and full-bodied. Talò delivers on the promise of its package. Rich and luxurious in flavour and texture. Welcome in the glass from a bottle that accents the most elegant table setting.
